The Early Childhood Parenting Center is proud to announce that beginning in July 2015, we will be joining Providence Saint John’s Hospital as part of their Child and Family Development Center. This new alliance will enable ECPC to continue our Community Outreach program to high risk families in homeless shelters and low income housing developments. Critical parenting services to vulnerable families will continue, utilizing current group leaders and based on the ECPC approach to early childhood development. The program will be called PROVIDENCE SAINT JOHN’S HELEN REID PARENTING PROGRAM.
Given the rise in parenting groups throughout the Westside we evaluated our resources and mission and in December, 2014 we closed our fee for service program. At the same time we strengthened our services to vulnerable populations in residential programs to increase our impact to these high risk families. We realized that to best continue our services we needed to collaborate closely with another community agency that had the resources to continue our important mission.
We are pleased to be joining with Providence Saint John’s Child and Family Development Center, an outstanding organization that has been providing a comprehensive range of services to children and families since 1962. A focus on children prenatal/birth to 5 years and child maltreatment prevention, intervention and treatment has been part of the Center’s programming since its inception. The Center is well-known for providing high-quality, multidisciplinary services using highly professional staff for their child-centered, family-focused services in client’s homes, schools, clinics and other community venues.
ECPC is proud to continue the legacy of our founder Helen Reid and the many volunteer professionals with whom she worked to build and sustain ECPC to become a leading edge organization in the area of early childhood development. The joining of ECPC and Providence Saint John’s Child and Family Development Center is an alliance that brings together two venerable organizations with the same mission of strengthening children and families.
We will be keeping you up to date with the transition and sharing with you our continued success. Thank you so much for your many years of support. We look forward to our continued work together to meet the important mission of parenting education for vulnerable families.
